Are the stroller fabrics washable?

The great thing about UPPAbaby products is that all fabrics are washable and instructions can be found here: https://tuneup.uppababy.com/wp-content/themes/twentythirteen/images/TuneUpCard_FIN2.pdf

We know sometimes you can be strapped for time to get things clean. @thetotsquad and @strollerspatoronto can help. With locations in DC, NY, LA and Toronto let them do the dirty work for you, so check them out.

How do I fold the 2014-earlier VISTA?

  1. Make sure the button at the top of the handlebar will squeeze in and the handlebar can slide up and down.
  2. Check that the black plastic tab and silver pin on the left side of the frame are not visually damaged.
  3. Squeeze the handlebar height adjustment button and the black plastic tab at the same time, push the handlebar down into the frame of the stroller.  You’ll feel a little resistance, push a half an inch further, and then you’ll be able to fold the stroller in half.  Watch this video to see how to fold your stroller – https://www.dropbox.com/s/22w7wpoixdry4rv/Vista%20Folding%202014-earlier.MOV?dl=0

For the smoothest fold, once the stroller is folded in half, spray some lubricant around the spring loaded pins in the middle joint.  To see how to lubricate the middle joint of your stroller – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIAifnfwLfI

Where can I find eco-friendly lubricants? Do you recommend any?

Yes, we’ve tested a few out! We list our suggestions on the blog, visit here – https://tuneup.uppababy.com/eco-friendly-lubricants/

How do I adjust the harness straps on the VISTA and CRUZ?

  1. Decide which slit/loop is the proper height for your child (use the loop above your child’s shoulder line, or closet to your child’s shoulder line).
  2. Remove the fabric loop from inside of the slit in the seat fabric.
  3. Detach the grey attachment clip from the current loop.
  4. Slide the grey attachment clip onto the new fabric loop.
  5. Push the shoulder harness pad up over the grey attachment clip.
  6. Tuck the fabric loop you are no longer using into the fabric slit.

You can also check out this video about the harness system to see how to adjust the height of your shoulder harness straps – https://youtu.be/-NIqUdN6Elk

How can I clean the MESA harness pads?

Sure can! Our harness is a no re-thread harness, the straps cannot be removed for cleaning. You can spot clean your straps using a mild detergent and sandwich the harness between a rag to clean.  Another option is using a soft brush and your own mild detergent to scrub the “gunk” out of the straps, even an old toothbrush will work wonders!

Can the leather be cleaned?

Yes, it can! Keep in mind that leather is a natural product that develops a unique appearance through daily use and exposure to elements, adding to its appeal. Cleaning of the leather is recommended only when needed.

SURFACE DIRT: Most surface dirt can be removed by gently wiping with a clean, damp cloth.

SCUFFS: Lightly rub the marks with your fingers. Often the natural oils in the leather will help buff out small scuffs.

Always clean the leather while it’s on the stroller to prevent any stretching or losing shape. Do not dry in the sun.

How can I service my G-Series at home?

If you can’t make it to a Tune-UP Gear-UP event, don’t worry, we have some step-by-step tips you can do at home to get your stroller running smooth again.

  1. Remove front 2 wheels and wipe down and dry thoroughly
  2. Lubricate front wheel shafts with white grease or BuggyLOVE wheel love
  3. While the stroller is open, spray out the cross support bars where they meet the stroller frame. You will see silver square nubs, or pins, that engage on the cross bars when the stroller is open (the G-LINK has one pin located on the center frame, below the release handle).  Once you clean out these areas and let the wd-40 work into the joints, open and close the stroller several times to work any residual dirt out of the moving parts.  It is also helpful to lubricate the section of framing above and below the silver square nubs. Here is a video showing this process: https://youtu.be/Ae2E2erHAOk
  4. Spray clean back wheels and lubricate with WD-40

How can I service my CRUZ at home?

Yes, you can definitely perform a checkup at home. Follow the below steps, and head to the blog for more information -https://tuneup.uppababy.com/cruz-stroller-tune-up/

  1. Remove your back wheels and wipe down the wheel housing and wheels to remove all traces of dirt or grit.
  2. Remove all 4 wheels and wipe down and dry thoroughly
  3. Lubricate all 4 wheels shafts with white grease or BuggyLOVE wheel love
  4. Spray out back brake housing and brake pin with WD-40, let sink in and hit brake several times without wheel attached to clean out brake pins, may have to repeat process depending on how dirty
  5. Replace all 4 wheels back onto the frame
  6. 2014-earlier CRUZ strollers:  Flip over your CRUZ frame and at the bottom of the brake pedal you will see 2 screws. You can squeeze some bike chain wax, a beeswax lubricant, a little white grease or even squeeze some BuggyLOVE Wheel Love into the brake housing, let it soak in, hit the brake a few times and this will lubricate and clean out the mechanism keeping your brake smooth and easy to use.  Here is a quick video we made showing this process: https://youtu.be/gQUyOLfjPlw
  7. 2015-later CRUZ strollers: Fold the CRUZ and wipe down both sides of the middle folding joint
  8. 2014-earlier CRUZ strollers: Fold the stroller in half and wipe out any dirt and debris from the middle joint.  Spray WD-40 on either side of metal hook and pump hook up and down several times.  Lubricate again if needed.  Unfold the stroller again.
  9. Check basket fabric for rips or zipper issues and replace if necessary
  10. Check seat recline, footrest, harness, handlebar for proper working order
  11. Wipe down the frame and spot clean of fabric using BuggyLOVE
  12. Check rain shield for holes or rips

  2. Pull the wheel off of the frame.
  3. Repeat for second wheel.

What are your favorite fabric cleaners?

It’s safe to say we LOVE @buggyLOVE! We’ve tested four cleaners after applying sticky sunscreen to the VISTA canopy fabric: BuggyLOVE Fabric CleanerBuggyLOVE Frame and Accessory Cleaner, Dawn Liquid Dish Soap, and Method All-Purpose Cleaner.  I applied each of the different cleaners to a different sunscreen spot on the fabric, scrubbed it with a scrub brush, and then wiped the area with a dry, clean towel.  What I found?  All the cleaners worked great with removing the stains.

Our recommendation: The BuggyLOVE cleaners were the easiest.  I could scrub the stain, wipe the area with a towel and be done.  The Dawn Liquid and Method cleaner all left soap suds in the fabric, which required me using the hose to get all the soap out.  This soaked the whole seat and took longer to dry (I was surprised how much water came out of the seat after rinsing it!).  However, with the BuggyLOVE, I just wiped the newly cleaned area and that was it.  The only wet area on the seat was where I sprayed the cleaner, so it was much smaller and dried a lot faster.

My G-Series is difficult to open and close. Any tips?

It probably needs some lubrication. Follow the steps below:

  1. Open your stroller.
  2. Spray the cross support bars, where they meet the stroller frame, with wd-40.
  3. You will see 2 silver square pins that engage on the cross bars when the stroller is open (G-LUXE/G-LITE have one on each side of the frame).  The G-LINK has one pin located on the center frame, below the release handle.
  4. Spray around the metal pin with lubricant, like wd-40.
  5. Open and close the stroller several times to work any residual dirt out of the moving parts.

Program benefits are contingent upon your stroller being under its original two-year warranty. You must register your stroller and Travel Bag online here prior to your departure.
